During one of my "work" trips to Aukland, a few of us girls decided to go venture out to Waheke Island, Onetangi Valley for some wine tasting on a gorgeous fall day. One of my favorite finds was Tantalus Estate Vineyard. Although through the tastings I was sampling young vintages, I was able to appreciate the quality of their wines and imagine how lovely they could be after "laying down" for a few years. We especially enjoyed the 2014 Estate Merlot Cab Franc blend. We all sat outside, shared a bottle and paired it with their signature cheese plate of sharp Cheddar, Brie and aged Blue cheese that was served with two different types of crackers, one of which was a charcoal cracker that was super unique and tasty! The architecture and design of the building was gorgeous with the grapevine chandeliers wrapped in little tiny sparkling lights twinkling above. The garden, vineyard and grounds are beautiful to walk around and take in as well! I could have sat there all day and night and cannot wait to return this fall.
